April 21, 2016

Behind Milan design week and Salone del Mobile 2016, the cult event in the World’s design industry, and we want to share with You our impressions of the exhibition and the most striking findings from brands-innovators. The main trend of this season – retro or New Retro, with its response to the era of 50-60-70 years of the XX century, but in a totally new version: modern minimalism with a classic facade. Therefore, interior moods, as proposed by all manufacturers, appeal to the historical facades, real or recreated, in which sophisticated furniture and minimalist design seamlessly adapting to the painted white walls, classic moldings, high ceilings and is flooded with light and airy space, not over-weighted by the abundancy in the objects, forms and textile decoration… In this regard, the texture is dominated by precious woods – mahogany, sycamore, palissandro, walnut. The shades of terracotta in leather and upholstery are everywhere to be seen. Widely used velvet, the main favorite in textiles this year,  is mustard yellow, deep purple and of various shades of blue. Everywhere marble presents – marble tables, countertops consoles is not indifferent to virtually any manufacturer’s medium to premium segments of the market. The metal is dominated by brass and bronze. All shades of gold effectively set off a new collection of furniture and finishes in noble accessories. The vintage era is back in favor, which means that integration into projects of Antiques, as well as remakes of iconic pieces of design and light. A favorite color of this season, of course is mustard and terracotta. Also we noted a favorite color of all designers not for the first season  – blue: from cold or ink, to soft blue with tints of turquoise.

With regard to the most striking shapes, they are best represented by brands such as Poliform items from Jean-Marie Masso, Giogetti, Flexform with the works of Antonio Citterio, Carlo Colombo and Daniel Libeskind; Henge, Moroso, Zanotta, Baxter, Poltrona Frau, B&B Italia and Maxalto Antonio Citterio, Philipp Selva, Porro with Maestro Lissoni, Alivar, Misura Emme, Chelini, Hugues Chevalier, Smania, SigmaL2 and Diesel Living …
