United but exceptional design

Collaboration of  Christian Liaigre and NYMPHENBURG
February 29, 2016

To mark the opening of Christian Liaigre’s first German showroom in the centre of Munich, the two partners have designed a limited edition chandelier, presented here for the very first time. The chandelier, based on a design by the House of Liaigre, grows like a root out of the ceiling and branches out into five organically curved porcelain arms. Its shape seems to have formed naturally, making it a real eye-catcher and giving the lighting a sculptural appearance. The room is bathed in an elegant and almost mystical glow.

The exclusive edition shows how product development experts at Nymphenburg, working alongside Christian Liaigre, have managed to create a modern interpretation of the challenges of lighting design. Liaigre has cut down, abstracted and interpreted the natural structure of a root to produce a truly contemporary design. The transformation of his concept into the finest, matt-white bisque porcelain is testament to the skills of the manufacturer’s master workshops. For four centuries, decorative lamps have been created in Nymphenburg completely by hand and entirely according to the client’s wishes and ideas, just like this example, which is highly ambitious in terms of size and design.
