«Hands assert themselves; they thrust their palms, open or closed, folded or crossed to free themselves from their condition. They seem to hang and to move without function, as if trying to capture time. Hands govern us; we pray, control and play through them, they power memories. Without much considiration, they emerged as a new theme. Hands are the valued instruments of hope, they signify beliefs. Because of their intimate connection to the material, the stroke I wanted to discover and understand what they have to tell us.» – Vincent Gassin-Gradstein.
